Thrifty Thursday: Maternity Jeans

Today's post is the first of (hopefully!) many, where I feature those of you who have found an amazing and fun thrifty deal to share with us. If you have an item that you'd like to share in this section, please let me know! I am always on the hunt for further inspiration.

Below is written by my fabulously fashionable and adorably pregnant younger sister, Kate Nieuwsma. Isn't her sense of style wonderful? :)

Kate says:

"I've been having trouble finding maternity jeans that actually STAY UP (the stretchy panels are very comfy, but tend to lead to . . . slippage:), so I've been on the hunt recently. When I got a notification from the local consignment store that some of my clothes had sold, I decided to go down and check it out. There these were. Like-new, nice dark wash, with flap pockets (which does wonders to re-emphasize away from the tummy:) and a narrow boot cut - still perfect for rolling up if I want to. The price tag said $8, but because I had $7 on my account from selling, I got them for $1 + tax = $1.48. They are easily the most comfortable - and the most flattering - pregnancy jeans I've worn. Much better than the full-price new pair I recently bought. The scarf is also thrift! It's silk paisley and camel (!!) print from the 60's, I estimate. I got it for $.25. Thrift on!"

Thanks for your contribution, Kate! Your new jeans look fabulous!

  2. I've found quite a few good deals on maternity at Ross. And Kate, not to worry. Those other jeans will fit much better once your bump gets bigger. :-)

  3. Melissa - I figured it might be a "bump growth" problem :) I guess I can look forward to having more fitting jeans by later on.
